James Carter

James spent seven years teaching history in secondary schools across Greater Manchester before discovering he loved writing quiz questions even more than marking essays. He started hosting pub quiz nights as a side project and never really stopped.

He joined the SimplyQuizzes Quiz Desk to focus on the categories he knows best: history, geography, general knowledge, and the kind of questions that start with someone confidently saying "oh I know this one" — and end with the whole table arguing. His rule for a good question is that the correct answer should feel both surprising and obvious at the same time.

Outside of quizzes, James is a football obsessive and an extremely average five-a-side player.
